Under the direction of the Child Life Services Department leader, provide educational services for hospitalized patients in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Assist patients in completing schoolwork, plan and implement supplementary educational activities, and coordinate homebound services for patients unable to return to school after discharge. Maintain academic involvement with the patient’s home school by acting as a liaison, obtaining assignments, and communicating any special needs the patient may have upon re‑entering the school environment.
Provide appropriate chart notes regarding services rendered and information that could impact patient care.
Children’s Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at the main campus, the Troy location, and six ambulatory sites.
