The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse who is accountable for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of patient care. Manages and collaborates relationships with leadership members, physicians, for the care of responsible patient populations. Assures professional, clinical, and educational excellence in the provision of quality care to patients. Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services.

Assumes responsibility for fiscal management of the unit.

Our OB-GYN maternity care teams deliver a personalized birthing experience and advanced neonatal care for sick babies. Henry Ford St.

John Children's Hospital provides comprehensive pediatric emergency, inpatient, intensive care, surgical, neonatal and several specialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a range of procedures using robotic-assisted technology, imaging and lab tests, a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation center, all on one campus.

The Nurse Manager for this role will support the following units:

For more than 50 years, our 35-bed private Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has been a trusted leader in the care of critically ill and premature newborns. Our NICU provides specialized care for high-risk full-term infants, very low birth weight preemies, and babies requiring surgery. As the only Level III NICU on Detroit’s east side, we are committed to staying at the forefront of neonatal medicine, offering advanced technology, evidence-based treatments, and a compassionate, family-centered environment.

Our NICU care team includes board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician residents, case managers, social workers, lactation consultants, nutritionists, and clerical support. Nurses attend all high-risk deliveries and work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement short- and long-term care plans tailored to each neonate’s unique needs. Our NICU also manages external transports, bringing critically ill newborns from other hospitals to receive advanced care.

On-site, we offer a full range of pediatric subspecialties, advanced imaging services (including CT, MRI, and echocardiography with rapid interpretation), and access to pediatric surgical specialists capable of performing major procedures

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Management or other related field preferred.
  • ANCC recognized nursing specialty certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting required, neonatal care strongly preferred
  • 2-3 years' experience in leadership role, in pediatric/maternal/neonatal specialty strongly preferred
  • Demonstration of progressive nursing leadership in roles for example Charge Nurse, Assistant Clinical Manager, House Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Unit Leader and Chairperson of a Shared Governance Council/Committee or interdisciplinary
