Job Summary

Under limited direction and according to established policies and procedures, coordinates the administrative and clinical activities for an outpatient center. Provides individualized patient care and coordinates treatments with ancillary departments. In collaboration with leadership, develops and implements plans, policies, procedures, and budgets to provide effective and efficient outpatient services.

  • Coordinates and delegates patient care responsibilities and clerical duties to nursing and ancillary staff as appropriate. Follows up on delegated assignments to ensure achievement of expected outcomes.
  • Conducts and documents individual patient assessment in collaboration with appropriate health care professionals. Compiles thorough patient health history.
  • Identifies and provides discharge planning and patient education, revising as necessary in response to changes during patient visit.
  • Provides individualized patient care according to plan, documents care given and results observed. Coordinates with ancillary departments participating in the patient care process to ensure effectiveness of patient care outcomes.
  • Administers medications according to policy/procedures. Monitors appropriate lab values for therapeutic ranges of medications and for indications of drug related interactions/toxicities.
  • Schedules, trains, evaluates, assigns work to and authoritatively recommends discipline of subordinate personnel. Coordinates staffing coverage to accommodate outpatient visit volumes and initiates process for staff replacements as necessary.
  • Collaborates with leadership in developing budget; responsible for budget adherence, processing of purchase orders, performing budgetary statistical analysis, and compiling statistical and budgetary records.
  • Formulates, recommends, administers and ensures adherence to policies and procedures for assigned center.
  • Responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of center-based Quality Assurance/ Continuous Improvement (QA/CI) programs and actively participates in divisional QA/CI programs.
  • Acts as a clinical resource, including evaluation of new equipment and procedures, and providing staff education and problem-solving. Provides information/resources to patients and staff to meet individual needs.

  • Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Two years of recent clinical experience in an associated nursing specialty.
