The 20-bed Family Centered Maternity Care unit specializes in post-partum mothers and babies with a variety of conditions, including diabetes and pre-eclampsia. The unit has a well-baby nursery room that cares for infants who need to stay after a mother's discharge. Part of a Baby-Friendly designated hospital, the culture of this unit is highly collaborative, and staff works closely with the neonatal intensive care unit, the intensive care unit and the cardiovascular and pulmonary teams.

Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you'll deliver essential patient care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and family-centered support. Your contributions directly impact patient outcomes and family experiences. You'll collaborate with the RN to plan and implement individualized patient care, respond effectively to emergent situations following established protocols, and actively engage in continuing education to enhance your clinical skills.

• Deliver Compassionate Patient Care: Provide hands‑on support to post-partum mothers and newborns, assisting with activities of daily living, comfort measures, and hygiene needs while maintaining a warm, supportive presence during this transformative time.
• Support Family-Centered Care: Help create welcoming, nurturing environments for families by assisting with infant care demonstrations, supporting bonding activities, and responding to family needs with empathy and professionalism.
• Collaborate with the Care Team: Work closely with RNs and interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans, communicate patient observations, and contribute to seamless coordination across the maternity, neonatal, and specialty care units.
• Respond to Patient Needs: Anticipate and respond promptly to patient requests and emergent situations, following established protocols and escalating concerns to the RN to ensure optimal safety and outcomes.
• Maintain Safe, Clean Environments: Uphold rigorous standards of cleanliness, infection control, and patient safety across patient rooms, the well-baby nursery, and common areas to protect vulnerable mothers and newborns.
• Embrace Continuous Learning: Actively participate in training, education, and skill-building opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge, stay current with best practices, and advance your career in maternal-newborn care.
• Embody Excellence in Every Interaction: Demonstrate our Team Member Standards of Excellence through respectful communication, cultural sensitivity, and genuine commitment to creating positive experiences for patients, families, and colleagues.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. CNA preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.)

OR one of the following:

• May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
• Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license.
• Medical Assistant program with OR without experience.
• At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
