Hourly pay rate: $16.83 - $25.29 per hour, depending on location and experience. Eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $6,000

A Mobile Inspector II is a member of the Manheim mobile inspections team responsible for conducting detailed vehicle condition inspections on client lots. Duties include accurate documentation, engaging clients, and ensuring high‑quality inspections for the Manheim Marketplace.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections.
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer/clients’ lots.
- Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate information into the inspection system (VIN, mileage, sub‑series).
- Inspect equipment and options, documenting damage, missing or inoperable items.
- Inspect and record exterior condition (tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components).
- Inspect and record interior condition (seats, dashboard, options).
- Perform basic mechanical checks (powertrain, drivetrain, electrical components).
- Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
- Adapt to daily appointment changes to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop strong knowledge of territory clients and collaborate with partners to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections via proactive on‑lot engagement.
- Leverage partner data and insights to maximize unit inspections on dealer lots.
- Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador and provide premier client experience by interface with core clients and ensuring satisfaction.
- Work closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim work groups, and auctions.
- Utilize for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews.
- Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
- Work in a continuous improvement/Lean environment and encourage a lean culture.
- Maintain production expectations set by the leader.
- Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
- Actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field (alternative: higher degree or certificate with 5 years of experience).
- Preferred automotive knowledge: body and mechanical; 1‑2 years of automotive related experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Travel 100% – reliable transportation required. Reimbursement program depends on miles driven.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical aptitude and detail-oriented.
- Experience navigating handheld devices and other documentation tools preferred.
- Motivated to work independently under remote supervision.
- Ability to multitask, follow directions, and receive instruction.
- Physical ability: lift and hold at least 30lbs at waist level for extended periods; stand, walk, talk, hear, crouch, bend, and kneel as needed; reach inside or under vehicle; near vision for inspecting damage.
- Knowledge of unibody and full‑frame vehicles helpful; familiarity with body paint and mechanical repair useful.
