Expected Hours per Week: 40 hours per week
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality control and production assurance within a high-volume engine assembly environment. This role is responsible for identifying and resolving quality issues on the plant floor, analyzing process data, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring products, equipment, systems, and processes meet established quality standards. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, independent, and comfortable working directly with hourly production staff during an off‑shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate quality objectives with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.
- Support quality control and production assurance for engine assembly operations.
- Spend the majority of the shift on the production floor identifying and resolving quality issues in real time.
- Analyze assembly process data to identify trends, risks, and potential upcoming concerns.
- Review SPC data and work with manufacturing engineering to drive process improvements.
- Utilize advanced quality tools, including PFMEAs, to support a quality assembly process.
- Apply blueprint reading, GD&T knowledge, and CMM understanding to evaluate product integrity.
- Drive quality issues to closure through established feedback loops and corrective action processes.
- Develop and implement error‑proofing and mistake‑proofing solutions.
- Support daily shop floor meetings, shift handovers, and communication of open quality issues.
- Keep management informed of progress, developments, and pending problems.
- Facilitate quality improvement activities with cross‑functional partners.
- Build strong working relationships with operators and hourly production staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- 2-4 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on experience working in a plant‑floor production environment.
- Experience with SPC data analysis.
- Experience using advanced quality tools, including PFMEAs.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T principles.
- Familiarity with CMM operations.
- Experience analyzing assembly process data to identify trends and drive corrective action.
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to drive issues to resolution under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and partnering with hourly production staff.
- Experience supporting engine assembly, powertrain, or automotive manufacturing operations.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, 8D, 5 Why, or similar quality methods.
- Strong continuous improvement mindset.
- Prior experience working night shift or off‑shift production support.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and take ownership of issues independently.
