Supplier Quality Engineer - Automotive
Location:
Detroit, MI (west metro area, no paid relocation) Salary: $95k-$110k based on experience Direct Hire - W2, Full Benefits, Onsite 100%
MUST HAVES:
Automotive. This position requires a strong understanding of core quality processes, including APQP, PPAP, 8D Problem Solving, Supplier Audits, and Layered Process Audits (LPA)
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
6+ years in supplier quality, quality engineering
Strong knowledge of APQP, FMEA, SPC, and quality methodologies
Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100
Skilled in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and supplier development
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Willingness to travel up to 15-20%
Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ResponsibilitiesQualify and develop new suppliers through audits and assessments
Define and communicate supplier quality requirements (PPAP, control plans, etc.)
Conduct supplier audits (on-site or remote) and assessments to ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100)
Lead investigations into supplier issues using root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, on-time delivery, SCARs, NCMRs) and drive improvements
Support incoming inspection, MRB processes, and supplier corrective actions
Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction projects
Other job-related tasks and responsibilities to be identified and assigned by Quality Manager.
