Research Scientist, Clinical Research
A postdoctoral position is available at Henry Ford Health for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our translational research team studying lung and ovarian cancers. Our lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms of cancer development, metabolic reprogramming and therapy resistance, with the ultimate goal of identifying combinatorial strategies for improving treatment outcome. We utilize state‑of‑the‑art functional genetics, genomic and metabolic approaches, and both cell line and mouse models to investigate cancer initiation, progression, and mechanisms of resistance.
Preferred expertise in cancer biology, molecular biology, metabolomics, immunology, animal models, and/or drug discovery.
Research Areas- Molecular mechanisms driving metabolic reprogramming in lung and ovarian cancers
- Identification and validation of pathways/molecules driving therapy resistance and treatment outcome
- Development and application of animal models of therapy‑resistant cancer (xenografts, PDX)
- Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and publish high‑quality findings
- Prepare manuscripts and present results at lab meetings, conferences, and seminars
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining independence in projects
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a well‑organized laboratory environment
- Stay up‑to‑date with scientific advances to drive research innovation
- Strong experimental and analytical skills, especially in preclinical models
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and committed to advancing cancer research
Under the direction of a senior investigator design, executes, analyzes, and interprets various laboratory experiments with a focus on current scientific questions, as identified by the senior scientists.
Education/Experience Required- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the department's research
- Experience in basic science or clinical research is required
- This should be demonstrated by abstracts, presentations at meetings, and publications in peer‑reviewed journals that are references in databases such Pub Med, or the applicant must have submitted his/her thesis work for publication
A proven working knowledge of various research methodologies and biostatistics required.
