Postdoctoral Research Associate – College of Education

The Detroit Partnership for Education Equity & Research (Detroit PEER) at Wayne State University seeks an experienced postdoctoral research associate to support mixed-methods research projects on K‑12 student attendance. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Sarah Lenhoff, director of Detroit PEER, and Dr. Jeremy Singer, affiliate researcher at the University of Michigan – Flint, on studies funded by the Skillman Foundation and the Joyce Foundation.
Responsibilities- Conduct literature reviews, data collection, and data analysis for research on attendance practice effectiveness and the removal of attendance barriers related to health, transportation, and housing.
- Prepare reports, presentations to stakeholders, and academic publications; mentor graduate students and co-author scholarly articles.
- Respond to inquiries from partners, support dissemination of policy-relevant research, and assist the center director with strategic operations.
- Develop and publish independent research derived from existing projects.
- Earned doctoral degree in education policy, education leadership, sociology, or a related social science field.
- Developing record of relevant publications and strong data analysis skills in qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis software and knowledge of education policy, with an interest in student attendance or related areas such as school culture/climate, policy implementation, or social policy.
- Excellent organizational, attention‑to‑detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience working on mixed‑methods research teams is especially desired.
Annual Salary: $66,000
