Research Assistant (Hourly) – College of Nursing

Wayne State University, located in Detroit, Michigan, seeks an experienced Research Assistant to support laboratory‑based, clinical, or population science research in the College of Nursing.

• Provide scientific and technical assistance to the Principal Investigator, including performing laboratory techniques, data collection, and analysis.
• Assist in writing research protocols, developing surveys, and recruiting participants for studies.
• Design and execute experiments independently when trained in specialized procedures, following legal, regulatory, and protocol guidelines.
• Collect, log, and analyze laboratory results and clinical outcomes, creating visual representations such as graphs and charts.
• Proofread and edit research data and documentation for accuracy and consistency.
• Support manuscript preparation, presentation materials, and conference submissions to peer‑reviewed journals.
• Maintain laboratory work areas, perform routine equipment maintenance, and order required supplies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in a related scientific field.
• Experience:
  
  Entry‑level (less than one year of job‑related experience); experience with basic research techniques or working with human subjects is preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work independently and analyze, summarize, and report research findings.
• Familiarity with scientific integrity principles.
• Excellent time‑management, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
