Wayne State University is searching for an experienced

Research Assistant, Part-Time, Division of Research & Innovation at its Detroit campus location.

Position

Purpose:

T o drive community and organizational engagement by strategically identifying and recruiting program participants, coordinating seamless program operations, and managing comprehensive data-tracking systems. This position is vital to support participant recruitment and retention efforts.

Essential Functions:

Outreach & Communication:
Conduct outbound calls to HBEC (Healthier Black Elders Center) members for resurveys, maintaining member engagement, and accurate data tracking.

Participant Recruitment:
Represent the program at in-person events, utilizing peer-to-peer recruitment strategies to sign up new participants and distribute program information.

Data Management:
Administer intake surveys for new members and accurately entered all survey data into the registry database.

Program Support:
Assist with broader program activities, special events, and administrative tasks, including organizing monthly birthday card mailings to members.

Newsletter writing:
Bi-annual newsletter that includes a featured article on a current registry participant. Identify potential participants to feature, interview them and write the article for the newsletter.

Assist with set-up of events:
Organize the registration table, provide HBEC (Healthier Black Elders Center) information, recruit new members, distribute evaluations.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

Education:

Associates degree

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree

Discipline:
Psychology

Experience:

Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Associate's degree is required and a 4-year college degree in psychology is preferred.

Organizational

Skills:

Must be organized, professional, able to work independently or with a team. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing multiple tasks simultaneously. The ability to prioritize tasks effectively is critical.

Interpersonal

Skills:

Good interpersonal skills are necessary for interacting effectively with team members and participants.

Communication

Skills:

Must have proficient oral and written communication skills.
Good oral and written communication skills are required for participant recruitment and for writing articles.

Computer

Skills:

Be well acquainted with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Complete CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) program training for Human Subject Approval.
