Technical Development Manager Job Detroit area,Michigan USA,Sales

POSITION PURPOSE

Supports sales and customers in technical matters. Main targets are to maintain existing business and create new business acting as a link between customers and mills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To ensure proactive technical and product support to customers that enable the business building related to our commercial strategy
Joint structured work with Sales to build new premium products business (upgrading existing customers and new customers)
To ensure high-quality technical support to customers/sales related to existing business
Efficient technical support valued by customers enabling a differentiator to competitors and supporting strengthened relationships with customers
To provide relevant and needed knowledge building/trainings to Sales, so that sales is well prepared to efficiently promote and sell SSE products
To drive Customer development projects supporting the SSE commercial strategy
Continuous flow of customer development projects both enabling new business and up-grading business as well as strengthening relationship with customers
Support Product development organization with relevant knowledge in accordance with agreed Product Development Plans
Act as a link between customers and Product development to ensure customer needs and feedback are transferred into the process

QUALIFICATIONS Competencies and Experience

Required:

Minimum 5 years of steel and/or Automotive experience in a technical position
Experience in customer relationships and socially skilled and working with persons/groups
Good technical skills in theory and practice
Language skills (English and Spanish written and spoken)

Education

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline.

Preferred

Master’s degree in Business or Science

Travel 30-50% of time in the field, at customer’s sites, other SSAB locations
