Job Summary
Under general supervision, protect the organization’s physical assets by maintaining and safeguarding the facility’s perimeter—both exterior and interior—by foot, vehicle, or bike patrol. Respond to and oversee emergency situations, coordinate with external resources, and assist the supervisor in developing, implementing, and maintaining security programs.
Responsibilities- Provide security protection for all organizational facilities, proprietary material, and personnel to preclude unauthorized access, theft, or intentional destruction.
- Monitor the flow of personnel entering and exiting the facility, audit visitor authorization and control activities, and verify personal and organizational identification.
- Ensure the protection of colleagues, guests, and patrons at Ilitch company venues, including handling potential physical confrontations.
- Maintain and update the visitor management system and inspect commercial deliveries and outside contractors entering and exiting the facility.
- Visually inspect common areas to prevent hazards, ensure proper safety procedures are followed, and document security, fire, and safety deficiencies.
- Escort guests and organizational personnel throughout the facility as directed.
- Oversee the handling of emergency situations, including employee injuries.
- Respond to incidents, investigate, interview, and gather pertinent information to complete incident reports.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and improved security programs.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties.
- Assist in educating corporate colleagues on security-related issues.
- Maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–2 years progressive experience in law enforcement, public or private security organizations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the public.
- Mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Proficiency with Windows‑based security software, including CCTV, access control, visitor management, and fire/life‑safety systems.
- Application of logical or scientific thinking to solve practical problems.
- Ability to navigate nonverbal symbolism and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Driver’s License, CPR/FA, and AED training.
The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds frequently, and occasionally more. Specific visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision. Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme weather, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, cold, heat, electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise.
