Armed Security Officer - Security and Safety Shift - St. John

General Summary

Provides security services to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include:

• Performs proactive monitoring and timely responses to potential or actual security threats.
• Investigates, documents, and manages security incidents and hazards.
• Maintains knowledge of and follows policies regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans, and may facilitate planned drills and simulations.
• Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.
• For security officers who operate a vehicle, operates safely and responsibly to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.

• Driver's License credentialed from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles before hire date or job transfer date required.
• Michigan Concealed Pistol License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross acceptable).
• Law Enforcement preferred;
  Management of Aggressive Behavior credentialed from Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International, Inc. preferred.
• Security Professional preferred.

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Required professional licensure or certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
• 3 years of security, law enforcement, military, or fire experience.
