Job DescriptionAs a Security Officer Reception in Detroit, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Officer at a dynamic educational location, you will welcome students, staff, and visitors while supporting access control and a professional, inviting environment. You will manage visitor check-ins, monitor entry activity, communicate clearly, and respond to security-related concerns.

What You'll Do- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out site‑specific procedures, access‑control practices, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Staff the front desk, greet visitors, verify identification and/or visitor authorization, issue credentials as directed, and maintain accurate visitor records.
- Monitor entry points, cameras, alarms, and other security‑related systems; report unusual activity, maintenance concerns, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to incidents, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established campus procedures.
- Provide directions and general information, assist with communications between visitors and campus personnel, and help to deter unauthorized access to the location.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
