Job Title
This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles for an assigned division.
Responsibilities may include calibrating related systems; repairing various equipment and vehicles; and maintaining inventory. May act as lead worker to employees in lower classifications.
Typical class essential duties include:
- Installs, calibrates, programs, operates, and/or repairs controls associated with salting streets and related systems.
- Repairs various equipment and vehicles, including: repairing sweepers; repairing pumps and valves; repairing plows; repairing bulldozers; repairing graders; and repairing related equipment and vehicles.
- Orders parts and supplies and maintains proper inventory levels.
- Trains staff in operating trucks and equipment.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Qualifications:
Experience and training:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or Mechanical trade school and 1 year of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing requirements:
Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver License Class A with N endorsement and all endorsements required by state law.
Parts and weights of the examination:
Oral 100%.
Duration of list:
This list will be in effect for a period of six months.
Post-employment offer requirements:
- Satisfactory completion of DOT medical examination, driving record check, and criminal background check (sex offender registry if applicable) prior to start date.
- All appointees are subject to a one-year probationary period.
