C.J. Locksmith Inc. is hiring an experienced, fully equipped Home & Business Locksmith Technician to handle residential and commercial service calls throughout Metro Detroit.

This is a mobile, commission-based position for an established locksmith who can receive a call, diagnose the complete problem and finish the job from start to final testing without technical supervision, step-by-step guidance or on-site assistance.

This is not an apprentice or entry-level position. You must have at least two years of verifiable professional locksmith experience and be prepared to independently complete the jobs you accept.

This position pays 40%–50% commission per completed job.

Your starting percentage will be based on verified experience, equipment, service capabilities, availability, reliability, workmanship and ability to complete calls independently.

The commission structure will be documented in writing before you begin accepting assignments.

You must be experienced and equipped to perform services including:

• Home, apartment, condominium, office and business lockouts
• Lock changes, repairs, replacements and rekeying
• Residential and commercial cylinder pinning and servicing
• Master-key and keyed-alike systems
• Key cutting and duplication
• Deadbolt, knob, lever, mortise and cylindrical lock service
• Storefront mortise-cylinder and rim-cylinder service
• High-security and restricted key-system service when authorized
• Smart-lock, keypad-lock and standalone electronic-lock installation and programming
• Strike-plate installation and adjustment
• Latch, bolt, door and frame alignment
• Mailbox, desk, cabinet, file-cabinet and storage-lock service
• Supported safe lockouts and basic safe-lock service
• Interior and exterior door-hardware diagnosis
• Security evaluations and practical lock-upgrade recommendations

You will be expected to:

• Review the property and service details before dispatch.
• Confirm that you have the equipment, inventory and experience required to complete the job.
• Contact the customer professionally and provide accurate arrival information.
• Arrive with the necessary tools, equipment and materials.
• Verify lawful access or authorization before beginning work.
• Diagnose whether the problem involves the lock, cylinder, latch, strike, door, frame, key, hardware or programming.
• Explain the recommended solution and approved pricing.
• Complete the work independently from diagnosis through final testing.
• Cut and test all required keys.
• Confirm that repaired or installed hardware locks, unlocks, latches and operates correctly.
• Provide accurate notes, photographs and completion documentation.
• Follow company procedures for dispatch, pricing, communication, payment and job closeout.
• Protect customer property, remove job-related debris and leave the area clean.
• Correct workmanship-related callbacks promptly and professionally.

Unsupported hardware, missing equipment, unavailable inventory or technical limitations must be disclosed before dispatch—not after arriving at the property.

You must diagnose and solve the underlying issue instead of addressing only the most obvious symptom.

This includes determining whether a problem is caused by a damaged lock or cylinder, broken key, defective latch or bolt, incorrect strike position, door or frame misalignment, loose or unsuitable hardware, installation error or electronic issue.

Whenever reasonably possible, provide a complete, long-term solution during the assigned visit.

The goal is properly installed, aligned, tested and dependable security hardware—not a temporary repair or unresolved problem.

You must be willing and able to drive to C.J. Locksmith’s designated commercial supplier whenever additional locks, cylinders, keys, smart locks, commercial hardware or job-specific materials are required.

You are responsible for identifying the correct approved hardware, confirming the function, size, keyway, handing and finish, picking up the materials, returning to the property, installing and testing the hardware and closing out the job.
