Diesel Mechanic ​/ Fleet Maintenance

Metro Welding Supply, a family-owned and operated business since 1937, has grown to become one of the largest independent gas distributors and welding supply providers in Southeast Michigan.

We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Maintenance professional to join our Distribution team.

In this role, you'll perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of diesel delivery trucks and service vehicles while helping keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Full-Time | Monday-Friday | No Weekends

Starting at $28.00 per hour, with higher starting wages considered based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

• Perform mechanical diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment
• Monitor DOT inspections and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure compliance
• Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records
• Perform roadside service and repairs as needed
• Communicate with supervisors regarding vehicle availability, repair status, and maintenance scheduling
• Monitor inspection findings through company maintenance software and complete required documentation
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce costs
• Source parts and outside labor when necessary while maintaining cost-effectiveness
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Perform other maintenance and operational support duties as assigned

• Previous diesel mechanic or commercial truck maintenance experience required
• Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic/troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Basic computer skills for maintenance logs, email, and mobile applications
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment as needed
• Strong attendance record and dependable work ethic
• CDL-A is a plus, but not required

• 8-hour shift
• Monday-Friday
• Occasional roadside assistance as needed
