Role Overview

The HVACR Technician is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related building systems throughout Huntington Place. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, this role ensures critical building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support conventions, exhibitions, and special events. The position performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment issues, and supports energy optimization initiatives while maintaining compliance with applicable safety regulations and industry standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities HVACR Systems Maintenance

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and steam distribution systems.

Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR equipment to maximize reliability and operational efficiency.

Optimize system performance to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility consumption.

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform corrective repairs.

Controls & Equipment

Install, maintain, and repair HVACR control systems, including pneumatic and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.

Operate diagnostic equipment, testing instruments, laptops, and specialized tools to evaluate system performance.

Calibrate and maintain electronic and pneumatic testing equipment.

Mechanical & Technical Support

Read and interpret blueprints, piping diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Perform brazing, soldering, welding, pipe fitting, and sheet metal fabrication as required.

Install gauges and properly evacuate and charge refrigeration systems.

Replace filters, repair drainage systems, install humidifiers, and connect associated water and drain piping.

Facility Operations

Respond promptly to service calls and equipment failures throughout the facility.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed repairs.

Support Engineering Services projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education, trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent HVACR training preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVACR systems; trade school or apprenticeship experience may be considered toward experience requirements.

Experience working in commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, convention center, or similar large facilities preferred.

Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, mechanical, and electrical skills, with experience using testing equipment, computerized controls, and reading blueprints and schematics.

Working knowledge of HVACR systems, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and preventive maintenance practices.

Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
