Overview

This position performs HVACR mechanical and facility support system installation, repair, and preventive maintenance. Responsibilities include installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems and components. The primary purpose is to provide high-quality, cost‑effective installation and repair services to all piping, plumbing, HVACR systems and miscellaneous facility support systems at company facilities. The role assists leadership in overseeing mechanical projects performed by outside contractors and operating engineers in HVACR maintenance and operations.

Proper job performance ensures the continued safe, reliable, and efficient availability of all equipment and systems necessary to sustain a productive, optimal work environment at company facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to all company facility emergencies under the direction of the team leader.
  • Acquisition of all plumbing, piping, HVACR mechanical service and material supplies for assigned tasks.
  • Procurement of tools, repair parts, plumbing and pipe fitting supplies, refrigeration servicing equipment, welding, brazing, cutting equipment, and other supplies required for routine and emergency tasks.
  • Use blueprints, instruction manuals, and similar resources to investigate and analyze facility equipment and system problems, make required repairs, and communicate status and repair recommendations to leadership.
  • Apply safe work practices on the job site and comply with all pertinent federal, state, local, MIOSHA regulations, and construction codes and standards.
  • Perform safe lockout of hazardous energy sources on all facility systems or equipment before work, maintaining assigned equipment and spaces in optimum condition.
  • Notify team leadership of any facility discrepancies or mechanical services that cannot be properly completed.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs to existing, de‑energized electrical systems and components, and conduct maintenance, installation, and repair of architectural components and hardware.
  • Provide services to all facility operations, including support for housekeeping, landscaping, parking, and general customer service.
  • When tasks include refrigeration and air‑conditioning services, service ice machines, cafeteria refrigeration, direct and indirect air‑conditioning equipment, and basic gas‑fired or steam heating equipment; test, maintain, diagnose, and repair electric/electronic/mechanical controls.
  • Track all daily work and preventive maintenance in the work order system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in HVACR mechanical equipment and system installation, fault analysis and repair, welding, pipe fitting, plumbing, and HVACR mechanical system service at a comparable facility.
  • Alternatively, certified or licensed Journeyman Plumber.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • If assigned tasks include refrigeration or air‑conditioning services, must possess a Journeyman Refrigeration License and EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
