Prototype Software Developer - Automotive

Akkodis is seeking a qualified Prototype Software Developer for a full-time role on our dedicated team for the next several years in the Detroit Metropolitan area. As an prototype software developer for our automotive design prototype department, you'll be part of a team that translates concepts into reality in the form of functional electronic and mechatronic prototypes. From functional components like buttons, switches and knobs, to fully functional prototype electric drive trains – you will have the opportunity to see the future of Ford firsthand and play a pivotal role in the early-stage development of the next generation of Ford vehicle content and experiences.

This role requires a deep understanding of software development principles, strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion.

Our role requires interested candidates to possess 3+ years of professional experience in prototype software design and development, with a focus on rapid iteration along with being proficient in NodeJS, C++, or similar languages to develop functional prototypes. Any Vector CAN experience at a production level would be very helpful.

Starting Pay Range: $85,000 to $105,000/yr (salary commensurate based on experience and education levels).

• Design, develop, and implement software prototypes to validate new concepts and technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, engineers and other developers, to gather requirements and create innovative solutions.
• Develop protocols and write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Perform testing and debugging to ensure the functionality and performance of prototypes.
• Document development processes and code for future reference.
• Support research and feasibility studies to explore new technologies and methodologies.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve prototypes.

• 3+ years of experience in prototype software design and development, with a focus on rapid iteration.
• 3+ years of experience leveraging programming languages, proficient in:
  NodeJS, C++, or similar to develop functional prototypes
• 3+ years of experience supporting electrical system testing and debugging, leveraging hardware and software as appropriate
• 3+ years of experience with software development tools and frameworks (e.g., Figma, Proto Pie, etc.).
• 3+ years of experience integrating with various operating systems including Windows, iOs, etc.
• Ability to work hands on – as needed – to develop circuit mock-ups to test and iterate prototype code including basic wiring, soldering etc.
• Familiar with automotive electronics systems (CAN), hardware systems and subsystems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in prototype software design and development, with a focus on prototyping and rapid iteration.
• Fluent in various CAD software such as Rhino, Alias and Catia
• Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, or other advanced technologies.
