Geotab is seeking a Software Development Team Lead who will assist with day-to-day operation, coaching, and mentorship of various software development teams leveraging expert knowledge in front and back end programming languages. As a Team Lead, Software Development, your key area of responsibility will be designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable code to develop high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications. You will be responsible for directing software development projects, managing task assignments, and ensuring work progress stays on schedule while providing regular status reports to key partners. You will need to work closely with other development teams on the design and implementation of features spanning multiple products, as well as Geotab’s global strategic initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will be a strong team-player with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to engage with all levels of the organization. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion while coaching and developing direct reports.

• Direct software development projects; develop and implement efficient, clean code with assigned team that satisfies customer requirements.
• Manage team with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other Software Development Department expectations.
• Ensure work progress stays on schedule and update stakeholders on project status.
• Install, manage, measure and change an Agile development process, e.g., SCRUM, Kanban.
• Collaborate with other development teams on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products.
• Perform Test-Driven and Security-Driven Development.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized and best-practices are followed.
• Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.
• Appropriately document system design and architecture such that it is easy to understand, maintain and extend.
• Provide expert project-leadership and guidance to the team as a SME.
• Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports by providing direction, coaching, and mentorship.
• Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.
