Job Opportunity: CDL-A Shuttle Driver – Local (Detroit, MI)

Universal Dedicated of Detroit is seeking reliable CDL‑A drivers for local shuttle routes based in Detroit, MI. This union position offers steady freight, consistent schedules, and daily home time.

• Pay: $22.50/hr for experienced drivers ($21.00/hr for 0‑1‑year experience; after 1year jumps to $24.25/hr)
• Shift: 1st shift, 5am–2:30pm
• Duty: Local shuttle routes (home daily), 2–3 runs per day between terminal and customer locations
• OT: After 40 hours per week
• Benefits: Stable, year‑round work;

  299 union; seniority‑based route bidding every 6months

• Safely transport materials between terminal and customer locations
• Follow delivery schedules based on customer production needs
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections
• Maintain DOT compliance at all times
• Communicate with dispatch and operations teams
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment
• Perform light touch freight duties such as chaining or strapping up loads; drivers are held accountable for these tasks
• Participate in the T2T (Train‑to‑Train) training program if a recent graduate; experienced drivers may be exempt based on prior experience

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum age 21 years
• Clean driving record with strong safety history
• Ability to meet DOT requirements
• Strong communication and time‑management skills
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
