This position offers the opportunity to command vessels during harbor assist and towing assignments while playing an active role in vessel safety, maintenance oversight, crew leadership, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Master aboard tug vessels during harbor assist and towing operations.
  • Lead vessel crews and supervise deck and engineering personnel.
  • Ensure safe, efficient vessel operations in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance programs, safety equipment, navigation systems, and vessel readiness.
  • Investigate and report vessel incidents, equipment damage, and safety matters.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational and safety management programs.
  • Travel throughout the regional operating area to support towing operations and fleet needs.
What We're Looking For Required
  • USCG Master of Towing Vessels License.
  • Strong knowledge of tugboat operations, vessel maintenance, and marine safety practices.
  • Experience leading crews in demanding marine environments.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment

This role is ideal for a hands-on maritime professional who enjoys a mix of vessel command, crew leadership, and operational oversight. Work is performed in all weather conditions and may involve travel between multiple ports and terminals throughout the region. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holiday operations is expected.

Why Should YOU Join?
  • Join a respected marine transportation organization with a long-standing presence in the commercial maritime industry.
  • Diverse operational exposure including harbor assist, vessel movements, and towing assignments.
  • Significant autonomy and responsibility.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement savings programs.

If you're an experienced tug captain looking for your next challenge with a stable and growing maritime organization, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
