Kit Picker
This role supports warehouse operations by accurately picking, packing, and preparing kits for production operators, while maintaining precise inventory records and a clean, safe work area. The Kit Picker contributes directly to efficient material flow and order accuracy within a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities- Count inventory accurately to maintain up-to-date stock levels and support reliable inventory tracking.
- Pick inventory components for kits according to work orders and production requirements.
- Pack kits for operators in an organized and efficient manner to ensure smooth production flow.
- Inspect orders and materials prior to kitting to verify accuracy, quality, and completeness.
- Perform data entry into the inventory system to record counts, movements, and adjustments with a high level of accuracy.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to support safety and efficiency.
- Operate a sit-down propane forklift to load and unload materials at the dock as needed.
- Follow established warehouse procedures and quality standards for picking, packing, and inventory handling.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve inventory discrepancies and support production needs.
- Support overtime requirements, including possible Saturday work, to meet operational demands.
- Previous picking or packing experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate counts, correct item selection, and high-quality kitting.
- Experience operating a sit-down propane forklift safely and efficiently.
- Hands-on experience counting inventory and working with inventory tracking processes.
- Ability to perform basic data entry into inventory or warehouse management systems.
- Ability to work a first-shift schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for possible Saturday overtime.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety guidelines in a warehouse setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with picker, packer, and quality inspection tasks in a production or warehouse environment.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced setting with changing priorities and daily production targets.
- Basic understanding of inventory tracking concepts and the importance of accurate stock management.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a consistent work ethic and commitment to supporting team goals.
- Willingness to learn and follow established procedures for kitting, inspection, and inventory control.

WorkEnvironment
This position is based in a warehouse environment that supports automotive and mobility manufacturing operations. You will work on first shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of Saturday overtime depending on business needs. The role involves regular movement around the warehouse, handling materials, and operating a sit-down propane forklift for loading and unloading at the dock.
The dress code includes jeans, a shirt without logos or vulgar language, and hard-sole composite-toed boots; steel-toed boots are also acceptable. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization while supporting efficient material flow and production.
This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
