Aide Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Medical Oncology

This role offers the opportunity to work closely under the guidance of licensed nurses, delivering direct care to patients in a medical oncology setting.
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) delivers fundamental patient care services, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to licensed nurses.
- Perform basic care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
- Operate within hospital policies to support quality outcomes and patient safety.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff to meet patient needs and respond promptly to requests, enhancing patient experience.
- Accurately document all patient care activities to aid clinical decision-making.
- Communicate relevant patient information to team members to improve care quality and outcomes.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
At least one year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
