NDDOT Starting Salary:
Engineering Technician III: $5,008 per month*
Engineering Technician II: $4,505 per month*
Engineering Technician I: $4,131 per month*
* We re looking for someone with all types of knowledge and skill level related to Engineering Technology/Highway Construction skills to join our team! Salary is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections for all types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Work with cutting-edge equipment like Robotic Total Station GPS, drones, and use computer aided drafting software such as Micro Station to measure and calculate quantities and create reports and plan sheets for use on construction projects.
- Perform tests on road and bridge building materials to ensure that they meet NDDOT specifications.
- Assist project engineers with checking and organizing project final records, as well as with district design work that requires the use of Micro Station.
- Receive training and support to excel in these tasks as part of the role.
Qualifications
- Engineering Technician III: minimum four years of work experience related to the listed engineering technician duties. College-level coursework and/or degree in an engineering or related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Materials testing is preferred.
- Engineering Technician II: minimum two years of work experience related to the listed duties. College-level coursework and/or degree may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Materials testing is preferred.
- Engineering Technician I: high school diploma or GED equivalent and a basic understanding of the concepts needed for this type of work.
- At any level, ability to work in all types of weather on uneven/slippery surfaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and travel to project locations with a valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word).
