Position: Data Center Technician-3

Oracle Data Center Technician

An Oracle Data Center Technician will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues, escalating complex problems to appropriate resolver groups, creating and maintaining documentation, and innovating solutions while following direction when given.

Shift Rotation

This position involves working on a 24/7 shift rotation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate interest and knowledge of the position and a willingness to learn on the job – gap year students also considered.
  • Prefer 2-5 years of data center experience; 4 years for development preferred.
  • Experience working in a mission‑critical operations environment.
  • The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 kg and may involve working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
  • Thorough understanding of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant operation.
  • Airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment, etc.).
  • Rack and stack equipment including commissioning of new racks.
  • Strong structured cabling skills on fiber and copper (lay‑down, termination, and testing).
  • Fully competent in own area of expertise, anticipates problems, and develops contingency plans.
  • Leadership experience is a must (minimum 10 or more people in a quickly changing environment).
  • Ability to carry out directives without supervision.
  • Ability to resolve issues independently and apply stop gaps for damage control.
  • Ability to address not only technicians but also management.
  • Ability to coordinate with peer‑level ICs and formulate solutions to a multitude of problems.
  • Ability to guide junior technicians and instruct them on proper etiquette and protocol.
  • Required physical abilities: lift 50 lbs, climb a 9 ft. ladder, stand for up to 12 hours.
Required Systems & Hardware Expertise
  • Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers – especially command line based).
  • Hardware repair, diagnosis, and break/fix.
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting).
  • IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, Ethernet, iLO).
  • Base operating system installs and configuration.
  • Core OS services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, serial communication, etc.
Job Responsibilities
  • Act as data center SME liaison to other technical teams and non‑technical teams (e.g., networking, computing, compliance, business operations).
  • Understand internal customer problems and provide timely technical solutions.
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware and software.
  • Perform system board level repair and fault diagnosis to meet SLAs.
  • Plan and commission new rack positions.
  • Be involved with the design and commissioning of new white spaces.
  • Perform structured cabling installation.
  • Follow governmental and company‑set health and safety processes.
  • Use professional concepts, company policies and procedures, and creativity to solve a wide range of problems.
  • Contribute to moderately complex aspects of projects or assignments.
  • Failure to obtain results may have serious consequences and require expenditure of resources.
  • Maintain internal contacts and interact with external departments.
  • Assist other staff with aspects of their role; may have project lead responsibility.
