Job Summary
The Disaster Recovery (DR) / Business Continuity (BC) Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing disaster recovery and business continuity activities for the mainframe environment. The role ensures organizational readiness to recover critical systems and services in the event of a disruption by overseeing annual DR testing, Continuous Business Operations (CBU), recovery procedures, RPO/RTO compliance, and corrective action management. The individual works closely with technology, operations, and business stakeholders to maintain resilience, minimize downtime, and ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity programs for the mainframe environment.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically review disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, and documentation.
- Plan and manage annual disaster recovery testing activities, ensuring successful execution and validation of recovery capabilities.
- Coordinate Continuous Business Operations (CBU) activities to ensure business resilience and service continuity.
- Define, maintain, and validate recovery procedures for critical infrastructure, applications, and operational services.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with established Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Conduct recovery readiness assessments and identify risks that may impact recovery capabilities.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, application, storage, network, security, and operations teams during DR exercises and actual recovery events.
- Document test results, lessons learned, gaps, and recovery performance metrics.
- Track and drive corrective actions arising from DR testing, audits, reviews, and post-recovery assessments.
- Support business impact analysis activities to determine critical systems and recovery priorities.
- Ensure disaster recovery plans remain aligned with technology changes, operational requirements, and business objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Continuity Management, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Infrastructure Operations, or Mainframe Support environments.
- Proven experience planning and managing disaster recovery testing and business continuity programs.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery methodologies, recovery planning, business continuity frameworks, and risk management practices.
- Experience defining and managing RPO, RTO, recovery strategies, and recovery validation processes.
- Knowledge of mainframe environments, data recovery, backup technologies, and high-availability solutions.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams during DR testing and recovery activities.
- Familiarity with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Strong project management, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience maintaining recovery documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
