Hours:
flexible, 15‑20 hours per week. Compensation: starting at $17.50 per hour with increases each semester.
Start date:
August 24, 2026.
Applicants must be accepted into Lake Region State College LPN program prior to the start date and achieve a minimum TEAS score of 58.7. The role progresses through apprenticeship levels aligned with the academic curriculum. The LPN apprentice performs clinical skills under the direct supervision of an onsite Registered Nurse (RN).
Essential Job Functions- Assist registered nurse or other licensed practitioner in identifying patient needs, priorities of care, and goals based on patient’s age, ethnicity, economic status, lifestyle, creed, or philosophical beliefs.
- Contribute to evaluation of plan of care by gathering, observing, recording, and communicating patient responses to nursing interventions.
- Modify plan of care in collaboration with licensed practitioner.
- Demonstrate competency in department‑specific functions in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned to meet department/organization needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to implement integrated patient‑centered care plans.
- Delegate nursing interventions to staff who have the necessary skills and competence.
- Identify early warning signs of changes in patient condition and report appropriately.
- Implement nursing interventions and prescribed medical regimens in a timely and safe manner and document care accurately.
- Collaborate and communicate relevant patient information with patients, families, and team members to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Report patient self‑reported/pain symptoms promptly according to SOP.
- Participate in health education approved by licensed practitioner.
- Assist in discharge planning, education, and counseling to optimize patient/family understanding.
- Must hold Nurse Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification within 1 month of start date.
- Must obtain Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP/T) certification within 6 months of start date.
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) prior to start date.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
