Requirements by level:
- RN I – ASN required
- RN II – 6+ years RS experience with ASN/ADN OR 3+ years with BSN
- RN III – 12+ years RS experience with ASN/ADN OR 6+ years with BSN OR Master/Doctor degree
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the organization. The nurse maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The nurse facilitates the coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provides patient education to assure safe patient discharge.
EssentialJob Functions
- Performs daily patient rounds, ensuring quality customer service and addressing unmet needs.
- Develops a plan of care based on assessment reflecting physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental and rehabilitative needs.
- Assesses conditions and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions, including discharge planning.
- Assesses symptoms of pain, intervenes promptly, and follows SOP.
- Identifies early warning signs of change and responds appropriately, contacting clinicians as per SOP.
- Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments.
- Reports observations to multidisciplinary team and records accurately.
- Ensures timely intervention or referrals.
- Completes incident reports before shift completion.
- Engages in communication and utilizes educational opportunities with patients and others.
- Initiates discharge planning, education and counseling to optimize understanding.
- Documents according to SOP.
- Delegates nursing interventions within scope to qualified personnel.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse (North Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact State Agreement) – prior to start.
- BLS – AHA – within 90 days of start.
- ACLS – AHA – within 6 months.
- NRP – American Academy of Pediatrics – within 6 months.
- STABLE – within 12 months.
- Temporary RN license accepted prior to start; must hold unencumbered nursing license before start.
- RN Residency Cohort only: ND RN Graduate Work Authorization considered prior to start.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
