RN III

Role Summary

Registered Nurse III provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of Altru Hospital.

Location:

Devils Lake, ND. Pay Range: $37.26 - $55.89 per hour.

• Perform daily patient rounds and coordinate quality customer service, addressing any unmet requirements.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care based on assessment of patients’ physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
• Assess and intervene on patients’ pain and other symptoms, acting promptly per standard operating procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of deterioration; respond appropriately and contact responsible clinicians as needed.
• Assist or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse patient developments.
• Report pertinent observations and reactions to the multidisciplinary team, documenting accurately and concisely.
• Ensure timely referrals and submission of all incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) before shift end.
• Communicate and provide educational opportunities to patients and significant individuals.
• Initiate discharge planning, education, and counseling early to optimize patient/family understanding.
• Document evaluations and plans per standard operating procedure.
• Delegate nursing interventions within scope of practice to qualified personnel.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.

• Active Registered Nurse license with the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement, prior to start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of start.
• Minimum of 12 years RN experience with an ASN/ADN degree, or 6 years RN experience with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or advanced degrees (Masters/Doctorate).
• Eligibility to serve as Charge Nurse and Administrator on Duty, and to chair or co-chair the Nursing Committee.
• Unencumbered nursing license held prior to start.
