As a Nursing Leader, you will play a key role in guiding clinical operations and fostering a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading daily clinical and interdepartmental rounds
• Facilitating safety huddles to support quality patient care
• Providing operational oversight, including staffing and workforce planning
• Supporting employee engagement initiatives and team development
• Driving process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and outcomes
• Building and sustaining a positive, collaborative workplace culture

• Active RN license
• Previous leadership experience in a healthcare setting
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Passion for employee engagement, team development, and culture building
• Experience with operational oversight and process improvement initiatives is preferred

The Director Nursing Services | Devils Lake is responsible for the management of Med/Surg, Emergency Services, Obstetrics, Swing Bed units. The Director establishes long‑range plans for these areas within the framework of the Strategic Plan and established organizational policies. Plans, directs, and coordinates division activities for providing quality services for patients and other customers. The role develops collaborative working relationships with the interdisciplinary team and champions the behavioral standards while working to continually improve the quality of care and service.

Conducts and coordinates hiring, training and scheduling of direct reports and conducts performance reviews. Functions as coach and leader for individuals and teams in facilitating the effective management of the Division. Establishes budgets and holds management team responsible for meeting budgetary targets. Consistently and effectively applies quality process improvement concepts in carrying out administrative responsibilities.

Develops and implements long‑range goals that enhance services and support strong relational management with key stakeholders. Develops collaborative relationships with leadership, physicians, clinical, professional and support staff. Sets standards for operational performance for the division/department(s) and fiscal accountability. Develops and achieves annual financial targets and holds managers and employees accountable to budget targets. Recruits, develops, retains and leads a talented team of leadership and staff committed to accomplishing the goals of Altru Hospital

Builds an environment of shared commitment to organizational goals and fosters an environment conducive to maximizing individual and collective productivity, emphasizing performance and collaboration. Conducts performance reviews, actively recognizes and rewards employees and takes appropriate actions when performance is not meeting expectations. Seeks out operational efficiency and involves employees and physicians in workforce redesign, as appropriate to better serve the patient, as well as create a workplace that all employees can function at their highest competency and productivity. Leads and participates in acquisition of new technologies to ensure the highest standard of care. Collaborates with system leadership, local leadership, and providers, as required to ensure communications and relationships.
