Role Overview
This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.
This position is responsible for operating and maintaining straight truck or tractor‑trailer equipment to transport material to designated locations in a timely manner. You will display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members and may also operate a loader to load material into the truck box.
Duties and/or Responsibilities- Safely operate Class A or B truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job sites, often driving on uneven or unfinished surfaces.
- Inspect the truck for defects before and after trips and submit a report indicating the truck condition.
- Maintain a driver log according to ICC regulations as required.
- Operate a loader to load aggregate into the truck box when needed.
- Perform daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning the truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights, and any other maintenance instructed to perform.
- Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
- Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set‑up and take‑downs.
- Tarp the load when needed.
- Clean spilled material or buildup off the box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.).
- Verify that gates are closed.
- Complete load tickets.
- Assist construction crews while waiting to unload.
- Spread product.
- Maintain proper information in the truck cab pouch.
- Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulations.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use tablets, CBs, and other electronic devices to maintain logs and communications.
- Able to work independently and under time constraints.
- General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
- A CDL Class A (tractor‑trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license. Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, lowboy, tank, or straight truck.
- Must have and maintain a medical card, an acceptable driving record, and required endorsements.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights, and some Saturdays.
- 2–5 years of construction driving experience.
