Salary: £37,870.30 per annum

Contract:

Permanent, full-time, 39 hours per week, Monday – Friday with on-call duties

As a Carpenter at HMP Erlestoke, you will work alongside experienced colleagues from various trades—plumbing, electrical, painting, cleaning, and administration—to maintain and improve the prison’s facilities. You will join a supportive team that operates Monday to Friday, creating a safe and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community. Your daily work will directly impact the safety and well‑being of everyone in this self‑contained community.

• Substantiated experience in a similar role
• Competency in the use and operation of all related power tools and machinery
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office Excel and Word
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
• Up-to‑date First Aid at Work qualification
• City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification, or substantial experience
• Good health & safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills
