Maintenance Planner

Job Overview

Guardian Glass is seeking a Maintenance Planner to work at our DeWitt, IA plant. Maintenance Planners are responsible for planning day‑to‑day operations for maintenance technicians.

Shift Available: Day Shift Monday through Friday (Flexible)

Pay: $32 an hour and up based upon experience

• Serve as the principal contact between the Maintenance Department and the plant.
• Receive all work orders from requesting departments, except emergency work.
• Review and screen each work order for completion, discussing details with the requester as needed.
• Ensure the requested work is necessary and resolve issues appropriately.
• Determine the best approach to accomplish jobs, consulting with requesters, supervisors, engineering, or functional crews when necessary.
• Obtain blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals, and special procedures.
• Create additional sketches or diagrams to clarify work orders.
• Identify and procure necessary materials, recording them on the work order.
• Prioritize safety in all planning.
• Estimate jobs, including steps, tradespersons, and labor hours.
• Maintain backlog files for work orders awaiting planning and scheduling with priority dates.
• Verify availability of parts, materials, and tools before scheduling.
• Understand each department’s PM workload.
• Review daily schedule and labor availability forecasts.
• Attend meetings with the Operations Planning department to negotiate downtime windows for maintenance.

• Experience using Microsoft Office products.
• Experience supporting a maintenance department in an industrial setting.

• Technical school degree or certificate.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Experience reading blueprints.
• Experience using Enterprise Asset Management or a CMMS.
