Payroll Specialist

Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a fast-casual restaurant chain with over 120 locations across California and Arizona. We specialize in authentic Hawaiian plate lunches and island-inspired favorites, prepared fresh daily using the highest-quality ingredients. Process multi-location payroll, ensuring accurate timekeeping, approvals, and compliance with CA wage and hour laws.

• Audit payroll data, reconcile payroll deposits, taxes, garnishments, benefits, and deductions.
• Process terminations, pay changes, transfers, reclassifications, manual checks, and stop payments.
• Calculate regular, overtime, double time, meal premiums, sick pay, reimbursements, and labor costs.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies, adjustments, and employee inquiries regarding pay, direct deposits, and payroll systems.
• Prepare payroll reports, accruals, and labor cost analysis; support month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies.
• Support managers and train payroll staff to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Associate’s OR Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, OR minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing.
• Experience with bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce and/or ADP Workforce Now (Dayforce preferred).
• Experience with Restaurant 365 Accounting software is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Multi-state payroll experience (CA, AZ, TX preferred).
• Bilingual Spanish (A plus but not required).

The pay range for this role is $28.00 to $36.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
