Asphalt Foreman
Position Overview – We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious individual who works well under pressure and possesses a strong work ethic to join our Dickinson Operations as an Asphalt Foreman. This position will assist to supervise mainline operations of asphalt paving. Depending on project status or specifications, night paving may also be required.
Essential Job Function –
- Oversight: production, equipment (needs and maintenance), personnel, quality control testing, documentation, communication with General Asphalt Superintendent
- Read and understand plans and specifications
- Assist with testing and mix design by working with testing personnel in various capacities
- Work with the owner's representative
- Enforce safety regulations
- Efficiently operate equipment used in road construction
- Train crew members to become efficient equipment operators
- Prepare various daily reports and track quantities of daily work
- Assist General Asphalt Superintendent to hire field crew (i.e. truck drivers, operators, laborers)
- Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates
Essential Job Requirements –
- Ability to pass exams to receive certification in basic aggregate and hot mix asphalt testing
- Possess a valid driver license (Class A or B license preferred)
- Travel required within a 300-mile radius of Dickinson, ND
- Work Experience Minimum: 2 full seasons crew supervision and 5 full seasons on an asphalt crew
Physical Requirements –
- Ability to walk on uneven ground, climb, reach (including overhead), grasp, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist (including neck), manipulate objects, use a telephone and/or communication equipment, perform moderate lifting, and sit for extended periods of time (typically in a vehicle)
- Ability to see and hear well – either naturally or with correction – and speak clearly
- Common-level verbal and written communication skills
