Family Medicine physician job in North Dakota. Valor Healthcare is looking for a passionate Clinical Medical Director to join our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Dickinson, ND. Valor operates over 55 VA CBOCs in the United States as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs providing a full range of medical services to veterans through CBOCs, tailored to meet the specific needs of local VA medical centers. Services include primary care, diagnostics, laboratory, telehealth, behavioral health, and more.
As a Clinic Medical Director, you will be responsible for all clinical aspects of the individual CBOC. You will diagnose and treat diseases and injuries, deliver preventive care, manage chronic disease, and perform routine physical examinations and testing.
Core Responsibilities- Actively participate and oversee the diagnoses and treatment of veterans.
- Manage day‑to‑day medical operations, ensure high quality clinical expectations, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Achieve and maintain excellent clinical outcomes through periodic chart reviews, direct observation, and adherence to VA guidelines.
- Ensure all colleagues provide excellent customer service to each veteran, both in person and over the phone, as well as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors.
- Participate in the clinic’s financial performance management.
- Participate in outreach events to support clinic enrollment initiatives.
- Support patient enrollment and retention by providing guidance regarding scheduling, follow‑up visits, or nurse visits.
- Maintain staffing levels consistent with veteran enrollment and contract terms to sustain clinical outcomes; review and analyze reporting and responsiveness to alerts and notifications.
- Ensure that all clinic metrics are at or above the VA threshold.
- Emphasize recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and retaining talent through communication, training, enforcing key competencies, and performance management when required.
- Develop and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with our VA partners, keeping the Regional Medical Director informed of significant issues.
- Innovate and support new initiatives, whether clinical or operational, and execute key strategic initiatives that drive the success of the Valor Business.
- 4+ years of clinical medical practice; healthcare management experience preferred; government healthcare environment preferred; specific requirements may vary based on individual VA contract.
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
- Board certified in family practice or internal medicine.
- Credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
- Valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment or any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
- Current Basic Life Support certification (valid for two years) and ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract.
- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to manage, both upward and downward.
- Energetic and optimistic demeanor.
- Strong service mentality and focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standards.
- Ability to resolve colleague, client, and patient issues effectively and in a timely manner.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Doctor with or without U.S. residency and current U.S. work visa.
