Current internship positions are available in our Lower 48 organization depending upon your assignment either as a Wells, Production or Maintenance & Operations HSE Intern.

HSE Internships

The primary function of a HSE Summer Intern is to provide HSE support for an operational production location or wells location. Field based activities may include conducting audits, participating in incident investigations, performing industrial hygiene or environmental monitoring, preparing HSE meeting material, participating in emergency response activities, and other duties as assigned. Our Interns lead by example and contribute directly to positive HSE performance and culture through visible action, high standards and commitment to safe work practices.

Assignments will be at one of our sites located in Kenedy, Texas;
Midland, Texas;
Dickinson, ND or Anchorage, Alaska.

The typical length of our internships varies from 10-11 weeks based on the project and your work group.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Implementing action plans to drive a positive HSE culture and improving the quality and effectiveness of core HSE programs, HSE Management Systems and programs
  • Providing field HSE support for designated events and projects as directed by your HSE supervisor
  • Demonstrating a commitment to establishing and meeting HSE performance targets and generating ideas for continuous HSE performance improvement
  • Understanding and managing the hazards and risks associated with your role and other risks that can impact our organizational objectives
  • Evaluating hazards, exposures, and general impacts associated with operation of process equipment, facilities, and projects including large-scale construction within an existing facility
  • Completing technical documentation and training and support for operations/field personnel in regulatory/policy compliance
  • Developing and implementing plans, programs, and procedures guiding regulatory compliance, proper and safe operations, and prevention of undesired consequences
  • Preparation and submission of internal and external reports and related documentation, including formal presentations to small and large groups
  • Identification and qualification of outside resources and services
  • Leading or participating in incident investigations, field audits and other incident causation and prevention activities
  • Participating in emergency planning and response activities
Basic/

Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
  • Current level in college:
    Sophomore through Graduate Student
  • Expected graduation date:
    Fall 2026 through Spring 2028
  • A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks of availability for internship
Preferred:
  • Willing to work in either of these locations:
    Dickinson, ND;
    Kenedy, Texas;
    Midland, Texas; or Anchorage, Alaska
  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
