Job Details
• Work in an acute care setting in a rural hospital on an LDRP unit with 4 labor & delivery beds and 7 postpartum beds,
• Patient population includes mothers >35 weeks gestation and mom/baby couplets,
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: labor 1:1-2 and postpartum 1:2-3,
• Responsibilities include titrating drips such as magnesium, oxytocin, and other antepartum or postpartum medications,
• Neonatal respiratory support includes vent, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow,
• Shift is 12 hours, rotating between days and nights, with block scheduling, every third weekend, and holidays as needed,
• Floating required, primarily to Med Surg/Peds or ED for supportive tasks, typically 1:1 patient sitting,
• Uses Meditech for documentation and OB Trace Vue for electronic fetal monitoring,
Job Requirements
• Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted,
• Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP or L&D RN experience,
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications required,
• Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years,
• Ability to pass fit testing; facial hair must accommodate required mask fit,
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility,
• Candidates must not have current or recent (within one year) employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities,
• Driver's license must be provided for consideration,
Additional Information
• Primary responsibilities include caring for patients during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum, including titrated medication administration and monitoring electronic fetal monitoring systems,
• Team-oriented environment with a charge nurse present on each shift,
• Unit/department-specific orientation provided, consisting of three 12-hour shifts,
• Scrubs are provided by the facility,
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on staffing needs,
• The facility is located over an hour from the nearest NICU and has limited services, requiring strong independence and communication skills,
• RTO (requested time off) must be included up front and cannot exceed 7 days during a 13-week assignment,
• Travelers are the first to float as needed on shifts,
