ISSO Security Analyst

As a security analyst on our team you will work with Veterans Affairs (VA) Information System Owners (ISO), Information System Security Officers (ISSO), site managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate and drive the completion of Risk Management Framework (RMF) steps0‑6 ATO activities and requirements, identify and mitigate risks, and support the operational security posture of information systems across their lifecycle from acquisition through decommission.

• Coordinate RMF steps0‑6 ATO activities and requirements with VA stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate risks, escalating project risks to leadership.
• Apply VA authorization policies and processes.
• Maintain detailed security documentation and execute ATO support duties for system installations, networks, hardware, and software.
• Translate security concepts into actionable, implementable recommendations for clients.

• Experience supporting all RMF steps, including security categorizations, creation and updating of security artifacts and FISMA security documents, control implementation details, and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
• Experience with NISTSP
  800‑53 security controls, RMF, and system authorizations and security compliance standards and processes.
• Experience creating plans and approaches for executing product installation securely in accordance with agency authorization policy for major changes and development life cycles, identifying potential risks and working with stakeholders to mitigate them.
• Experience analyzing authorization documents and artifacts against requirements to identify gaps, establish schedules, and coordinate with stakeholders to address gaps by required deadlines.
• Ability to lead client‑facing meetings and present complex ATO topics.
• Ability to organize, manage, and maintain large amounts of discrete data with various expiration dates across multiple systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or Electronics Engineering and 5+ years of IT experience, or 13+ years of IT experience in lieu of a degree.
• Vetting: selected applicants will undergo a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client.

• Experience with Continuous Authorization and Monitoring (CAM).
• Experience working with the VA.
• Experience supporting ATOs for specialized devices.
• Ability to engage with varying levels of staff and leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Projected compensation range: $99,000.00 to $ (annualized USD). The range reflects location, experience, and other factors. This posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
