Job Summary
Fusion Medical Staffing‑Nursing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Dickinson, North Dakota. The assignment requires 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts, and a start date of ASAP.
Qualifications- One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred qualifications include AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification and ACLS or STABLE certifications (AHA/ARC); additional certifications and licenses may be required.
Responsibilities- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to obstetric nursing techniques
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
- Provide immediate postpartum care and stabilization of mother and newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members
- Respond to obstetric emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) using evidence‑based protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
- Critical thinking and service excellence
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Basic PC skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lb), push, pull, and bend
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel and present a positive, professional attitude
- Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and assistance with procedures
- Mental resilience to handle frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain continuous concentration
- Good visual acuity and effective communication
