Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care in a 4-bed ICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3 depending on acuity
- Manage and titrate drips common to an ICU environment
- Care for patients with diagnoses including DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac rate and rhythm disorders, and medical detox
- Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
- Independently read and interpret telemetry monitor strips
- Float to Med/Surg or ER (for 1:1 assignments) as needed
- Active RN license
- Required
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC / TCAR or documented experience with the care of trauma patients - Experience managing arterial lines (art lines) and CVP monitoring
- Must be able to pass facility fit testing requirements; clinicians with facial hair must pass the Primary or Secondary fit test (3M Aura 1860 S/R or 3M 1870+) — inability to pass fit testing due to facial hair may result in contract cancellation
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
- Requested time off must be submitted upfront and may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
- Prior ICU experience with high-acuity patient populations including respiratory failure and cardiac management
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, including reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips without telemetry tech support
- Experience in a small or rural ICU environment where cross-coverage and adaptability are essential
- Work in a collaborative environment where coachability, teamwork, and clinical leadership are valued and supported
- Receive unit-specific orientation consisting of three 12-hour shifts to ensure a smooth transition into the role
