** General Description
** The purpose of this class is to operate spray trucks in a safe manner while applying pesticides for mosquito control.
** Duties and Responsibilities
**** The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
*** Operates a spray truck in an assigned area.
* Maintains and performs safety inspections of assigned vehicle and equipment.
* Refills tank with chemicals as needed.
* Cleans tank internally and externally.
* Cleans and maintains shop, garage and hangar; sweeps, waxes and mops floors.
* Cleans airplanes as assigned.
* Assists in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
* Obtains landing rate counts for mosquitoes before and after nightly sprayings.
* Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

*** Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
* No experience required.
** Physical Demands/Work Environment:
*** Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
** Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
* The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

The work is typically performed in a vehicle and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Emergency Preparedness Tier Level:  3
** Special Certifications and Licenses:
*** Requires Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial pesticide license within six months of employment.
* Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
