Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring all vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in safe, compliant, and efficient working condition. This position manages DOT compliance, fleet maintenance schedules, inventory controls, and repair workflows. The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in supporting field operations by minimizing downtime, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all assets meet company and regulatory standards.

Supervisory

Responsibilities Fleet & Vehicle Management
  • Oversee maintenance, inspections, and repairs for all company vehicles, trucks, and trailers.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to maximize fleet lifespan and reduce breakdowns.
  • Coordinate with mechanics, vendors, and service providers for timely repairs and parts procurement.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle files, mileage logs, service records, and cost tracking.
  • Monitor fleet performance and make recommendations for replacement, upgrades.
DOT Compliance
  • Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Maintain DOT records, including driver qualification files, annual MVRs, medical cards, and vehicle inspection logs.
  • Conduct regular audits of driver logs, pre‑trip/post‑trip inspections, and equipment tags.
  • Prepare for and assist with DOT audits, roadside inspection responses, and compliance reporting.
  • Provide guidance to drivers and supervisors on DOT requirements and safety procedures.
Tools & Equipment Management
  • Manage inventory, issuance, tracking, and return of company tools and specialized equipment.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are inspected, calibrated, and repaired as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a tool tracking system to reduce loss and maximize utilization.
  • Evaluate tool and equipment needs for field crews and coordinate procurement with purchasing.
  • Implement safety and usage standards for all tools and shop equipment.
Shop Operations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment consistent with OSHA and company standards.
  • Manage shop budgeting, including parts, fuel, preventive maintenance services, and equipment purchases.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Track and report on fleet availability, repair turnaround times, and cost efficiency.
Communication & Coordination
  • Work closely with field supervisors, project managers, and dispatch to prioritize vehicle and equipment needs.
  • Provide status updates on repairs, fleet readiness, DOT compliance, and tool availability.
  • Assist with emergency repairs and after‑hours operational needs as required.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and vehicle maintenance standards.
  • Experience working with diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and record‑keeping skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software or maintenance tracking systems.
Education and Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in fleet management, shop supervision, or related role.
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred.
  • Driver License required.
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a shop and warehouse environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional travel to job sites may be required.
  • Regular interaction with tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials used in electrical construction.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach as required to inspect equipment and shop areas.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other shop equipment (training or certification may be required).
  • Ability to visually inspect tools, equipment, and inventory for safety and compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
