DSU is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Education/Director of Field Experiences. The Director of Field Experiences is a faculty position which is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all undergraduate and graduate field experiences, practicums, and student teaching placements for the Teacher Education Program. The position ensures that placements, supervision, and documentation meet university, state, and accreditation requirements, and maintains partnerships with K-12 schools and districts.

This position is a full-time faculty position where 75% of the time will be devoted to placement, supervision and documentation of teacher education students and the other 25% to teaching education coursework. The position also requires that the faculty member maintains appropriate scholarly activities, participates in relevant professional development, and provides service to the university on-campus and off-campus.

This is a face-to-face instructional position on the Dickinson State University Campus in Dickinson, ND.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

* Master's degree in education, secondary education content area, elementary education, SPED or Reading

* All academic degrees from accredited institutions

* Five years of K-12 experience in elementary education and/or middle school, high school or reading instruction

* Experience in curriculum design

* Teaching license in elementary education, secondary education or SPED (active, or expired within 5 years)

* Proficient computer skills and the ability to deliver online instruction in a variety of platforms such as Blackboard, Moodle etc.

* Strong and empathetic communication

* Demonstrable research-based teaching practices

* Strong collaboration skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/

COMPETENCIES:

* Doctorate in education

* Higher education teaching experience

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Teaching effectiveness

* Teaching effectiveness as it relates to field placement includes but may not be limited to the following (75%):

* Coordinate and oversee all undergraduate and graduate field experiences, practicums, and student teaching placements.

* Identify, secure, and assign placements in collaboration with K-12 partner schools, including out-of-state placements.

* Support university supervisors, cooperating teachers and teacher candidates during all field experiences, practicums and student teaching.

* Participate in the role of a University Supervisor for student teachers in content area and support the university supervisors by observing and evaluating practicums students, as needed.

* Maintain and manage field experience records, evaluations, and placement data using Dickinson State University's Anthology Portfolio and related reporting systems.

* Update and revise Dickinson State University's Student Teaching Handbook including templates and rubrics based on data reviews and faculty input.

* Maintain and strengthen relationships with K-12 partner districts managing Memoranda of Understanding and related agreements serving as a liaison between the School of Education and the partner districts.

* Plan and implement student teaching seminars and professional development opportunities.
