Job Summary

Geisinger Cancer Center, Dickson City. Shift: Days (United States). Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Worker type:
Regular. Exemption status:
Non‑exempt. Geisinger offers Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates joining our outpatient clinic teams.

• Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient, and family, assisting in diagnosis and treatment.
• Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and appropriate filing in the medical record.
• Promotes a clean environment and maintains infection control standards.
• Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and basic medical data for the provider.
• Provides direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
• Assists the provider in minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and associated paperwork for laboratory studies.
• Maintains ongoing patient communication, prioritizing messages for the provider and responding to patient questions and needs.
• Administers medications, vaccines, intradermal and skin testing under provider direction.
• Cleans and sets up examination and treatment rooms, ensuring asepsis and availability of instruments and equipment.
• Assists the physician with high‑dose rate brachytherapy gynecologic cases, prostate seed marker cases, and rectal spacer procedures.
• Provides patient education for radiation oncology treatments under physician direction.
• Starts IV access for contrast injections or fluid administration, administers IV fluids, and performs high‑level disinfection of instruments.

• Education:
  
  Graduate from Specialty Training Program‑Nursing (required).
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 1 year Nursing (preferred).
• Certification and License:
  Basic Life Support Certification, Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Skills:
  
  Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, teamwork.
