Client Preference: Musical background strongly preferred (instrument, singing, choir/band, or comfort using music to create a calm environment).
Client Requires: CPR and First Aid certification and training are required.
Helping Hearts USA LLC is seeking a professional, well-groomed, educated, and experienced male caregiver to support a client overnight. This role is ideal for someone with strong memory care instincts who can provide calm structure, safety supervision, personal care, and companionship while maintaining the client’s dignity and comfort.
The right caregiver will be steady, patient, and confident supporting dementia/Alzheimer’s-related needs such as confusion, nighttime restlessness, anxiety, and sun downing. The client responds positively to music, so candidates who can incorporate music appropriately to promote calm and connection are strongly preferred.
Position SummaryAs an overnight caregiver (7p–7a), you will help the client remain safe, comfortable, and supported through the night by providing attentive supervision, personal care support as needed, and dementia-friendly communication. You must remain alert throughout the shift, maintain professional boundaries, and communicate clearly with the office and family when updates are needed.
This is a non-medical role. Caregivers provide support services, reminders, observation, and documentation based on the care plan.
Key Outcomes for This RoleA successful caregiver in this position will:
Maintain a calm and secure environment overnight
Prevent falls and reduce nighttime agitation through routine and reassurance
Provide respectful personal care support while protecting dignity
Use dementia-friendly communication and redirection techniques
Communicate changes promptly and document clearly
Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and professionalism
Remain alert and attentive throughout the shift
Monitor for fall risks, wandering risk, or unsafe behaviors
Maintain a safe environment (clear walkways, adequate lighting if needed, appropriate bed/chair safety per care plan)
Provide reassurance during nighttime wake-ups and confusion
Respond appropriately to client needs, calls, or restlessness
Use calm, respectful communication and short, clear cues
Provide gentle redirection when confusion, anxiety, or repetitive behaviors occur
Support bedtime and overnight routines to reduce distress
Assist with nighttime transitions (bathroom, hydration, repositioning) while minimizing disruption
Recognize and respond to sun downing symptoms (agitation, fear, restlessness) using de-escalation strategies
Assist with toileting and incontinence care per care plan
Support hygiene routines (oral care, face/hands, grooming)
Assist with dressing/undressing and comfort clothing changes
Support safe transfers and mobility (bed to chair, chair to bathroom)
Provide repositioning support to promote comfort and skin protection (as applicable)
Always protect the client’s privacy, dignity, and independence
Provide a steady, supportive presence
Engage in calming conversation and reassurance when the client is awake
Encourage comfort, confidence, and emotional safety
Reduce isolation and anxiety through patient presence and respectful support
Use music as a calming tool when appropriate (soft, familiar, instrumental or preferred genre)
Support relaxation at bedtime or during anxious moments
Engage the client with simple music-based interaction (listening, gentle singing, familiar songs) if welcomed
Maintain appropriate volume and timing to support sleep and comfort
Prepare light snacks as appropriate (per dietary guidance/care plan)
