Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care in the Labor and Delivery unit, supporting both mother and newborn through various stages of labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Ensures adherence to safety, clinical standards, and patient comfort.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor fetal and maternal status utilizing advanced fetal monitoring techniques.
• Prepare and assist with labor, delivery, and postpartum procedures, including C-sections, inductions, and assisted deliveries.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage with prompt intervention.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive patient care and education.
• Document all clinical assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately within Meditech and CPN systems.
• Provide postpartum and neonatal care, including transition of the newborn and initial assessments, ensuring newborn stability.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with labor and delivery experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring, obstetric emergency procedures, and neonatal assessment.
• Possess BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certifications.
• Experience with inductions and managing OB emergencies preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
